Thank you for visiting my website.

Since 1972, I have lived a childhood dream of being a Nurse. It has been my privilege to be involved in a variety of areas in the medical profession, such as: Home Health Nursing, Oncology, Medical Surgical, Geriatric and Orthopedic Nursing. For the last several years most of her work has been in the Dementia and Alzheimer’s field. I am presently the Director Of Nurses at a Long-Term Care Facility.

While residing in Utah during the 1990’s, I was a "Charge Nurse" on an Alzheimer’s Unit where I observed that the overwhelming majority of caregivers did not know how to take care of the patients. They knew very little of redirection and when the residents became agitated and combative, staff members often ran from the patients; many times leaving the unit and thus leaving the residents with no supervision. There were few, to no, activities so the residents wandered aimlessly about the unit.

Upon moving to New Jersey, in 2000, I accepted a position on a 30-bed Alzheimer’s/Dementia Unit. During my 3 ½-year tenure on this unit, the unit remained deficiency free and recommendation free by the State of New Jersey. I assisted in the clinical training of Medication Aides and Assisted Living Administrators. The unit I worked on was chosen as one of the field sites for graduate students from the University of North Carolina to observe behavior patterns of people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I also worked with a national drug company to develop a brochure for family members on "Caring For The Patient With Alzheimer’s And Dementia."

My husband and I presently reside in North Carolina. We are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters and four marvelous grandchildren.
